Church Street

The Old Tin Hut, Church Street, Woodford Halse 1905 - 1965

It was erected in 1905 by the Church of England Men’s Society for church purposes e.g. Sunday school, meeting room, Youth Club & Social Centre.

Later it served the village community as a whole for the Home Guard, Registry Office, Whist Drives, Scouts & Guides etc.. It was demolished in 1965 when the church bought the Savoy Cinema and converted it into the Church Hall.

Note: the old stone wall along the front of it (still standing). The building in the background is a part of the old Savoy Cinema (now demolished)
