Woodford Halse
Buildings
In the early 20th century the Parish Priest of Aston le Walls, Father Martin Edwards, saw a need for a Catholic Church in Woodford Halse.
At the time Mass was being said at a house locally but the owner became ill and the need became urgent.
Three cottages were put up for sale and Father Edwards purchased these in 1911.
It was a difficult task at the time to raise the amount needed - over £500 - to build the church since the church at Aston le Walls had just been extensively redecorated.
Nevertheless the task was accomplished and the church, which was dedicated to St. Joseph, was opened in 1917.
