WOODFORD HALSE LEGION

 The Woodford branch of the Bristish Legion entertained the members of the Women’s Section to supper at the Ex-Service Men’s Hall. Captain Spurgeon welcomed the guests, whom he thanked for their work on Poppy Day and in connection with movements in aid of the distressed areas.

Mr. L. Ward provided music for games and dancing at the social which followed, and songs were sung by Mr. R. Adams, Mr. W. Gertry, Mrs. C. White, Mrs. J. Douglas, Mrs. T. Harris and Mrs. E. Longley. Mrs. J. Hodson thanked the hosts.

 Dr. A. A. Hope and Mr. W. Irons judged the ambulance competition for the Jack Scott memorial cup, held in the Ex-Service Men’s Hall, Woodford Halse. Master L. Jordan and Master D. Wood acted as patients and Miss Jones was the recorder.

The result was:

C. J. Hollis, 176 points; L. Sheasby (last year's winner), 165; E. J. Lock, 161; A. Hilless, 157; F. Paddison, 120.

Dr. Hope spoke of the high standard of efficiency of the competition, and paid tribute to Mr. W. Irons, the instructor.

In the absence of Mr. C. Scott, the donor of the cup, Mr. R. A. Adams presented the cup and a minature cup to Mr. C. J. Hollis.
